You know the extremely fun part of doing PR stunts?
It's when the stunts you concocted work and your target victims devour it thoroughly. What's interesting is when you're in that exclusively lot of people who find out early that it's really just a stunt. This way, figuring things out or watching something unfold is juicy. What isn't fun is if you're on the receiving end and you either have no clue what's going on, or you've been bamboozled hook, line and sinker.
And so I am at awe with this piece of news published last week at Us Magazine that possibly everything we've learned so far about the Heidi Montag-Spencer Pratt saga is just a PR stunt.
What are the so-called facts?
1. That Heidi & Spencer divorce with the added evidence of some bickering via Twitter.
A source for Us Magazine reports, "They are still a couple...They are not really breaking up."
"It's disgusting and vile, but Spencer will do anything to keep his fame, even tempting companies with [the sex tapes]. Whatever they do, though, will be together. He is doing nothing behind her back."
So the tryst where Spencer allegedly threatened Heidi so she wouldn't push through with the divorce was actually just their time together as regular husband and wife?
2. The Heidi and Spencer intimate tape.
The insider for Us confirms the existence of the sex tapes. Prior reports state that Spencer even had discussions with porn company Vivid Entertainment about it. But the insider warns us that the PR stunt here is that they will "never really sell it unless they get desperate."
What do you think will make them more desperate than not being famous? I think that if the impending Speidi divorce is a fake, then that in itself is already a symptom of their desperation.
3. The girl-on-girl love tape.
Playboy Playmate Karissa Shannon confirmed the existence of that sex tape, but clarified that Spencer wasn't involved in the filming; that it was just between her and Heidi. Karissa said that Spencer "accidentally" took the video cam with the tape. It wasn't intended to be publicly shown.
The source for Us never said it was a stunt. But can't help speculate what the stunt here could be if there is one.
To summarize, I guess the question here is: Which is a PR stunt, and which is true?
Frankly, I really don't know and don't really care that much about anything concerning Speidi, more specifically the Spencer part. I think anything that goes through what Spencer calls a brain is beneath anyone. I don't think contemplating out what is true and what is a PR stunt is worth anyone's time, but watching the Speidi saga unfold its added twists with its so-called PR stunts made Speidi a little more intersting now.
And at least we're not in the bamboozled lot.
