Facebook down, site blames "system change". Article by: Joan Lee
Lightning strikes thrice, and Facebook already experienced twice. The popular social networking site has encountered an unexpected outage Thursday PST after the site changed its system.
According to reports, the said outage is the worst since 2006. Imagine hours of shut down, also means dollars worth of loss.
The database failure was resolve at around 5 PM the same day, still fast compared to other known "shut downs".
Here's a part of Facebook's official statement regarding the database failure: "Today we experienced technical difficulties causing the site to be unavailable for a number of users. The issue has been resolved and everyone should now have access to Facebook. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Some experts say the shut down might happen again, because of the site's update in their system. Google never experienced this kind of shut down when they updated their search system from "regular" to "instant" (we really hate this 'instant' thing).
